The Volokno (Fibre) release is a joint project by rx:tx and the Riga based sound artists Evgeniy Droomoff and Rostislav Rekuta aka Sound Meccano together with Matthew Biederman aka DelRay, who currently works in Montreal and has contributed a unique visual composing tool to the project.
Exploring the fibrillar dimensions and co-relations within the sound, vision and the inner laws of life, Volokno is a manifestation of macro beauty and innovation in micro dimensions. To fully experience Volokno, the audio, video, software and the book - the sounds and the images - are to be equally observed, absorbed and listened to.
The audio work "volokno" is a composition consisting of 4 tracks with the total time of 24'14". Each of them focuses on a particular fibrillar quality. Delicate sounds, sublime granular textures, colourful soundscapes and ethereal but surreal harmonies fill up the space of the Volokno universe.
The video work "volokno" transforms static images into a dynamic audio-visual stream. The main source for the images is a painting by the Latvian painter Inese Bumane, combined and manipulated by DelRay's digital processes and the reinterpretation of track "fibre I: wool fibre" into a meditative audio-visual masterpiece.
"digital fibre" is an algorithmic deconstructionist continuation of the album and the video. Through custom software it processes a database of macro photos of the paintings and sounds, which were specially produced for the softwre itself. Each iteration results in an original audio-visual composition. It is a captivating manifestiation of beauty, and the life-like quality of random logic in its unpredictability and endlessness.
