Borka

Spinning records for more than 10 years now. Started with breaks but now it’s a bit more hectic. Some call it freestyle, Borka says a mixture of funk, soul, hiphop, beats, breaks and more. He is best know by Tetkine radosti, a series of mix collages and club nights of old Yugoslav music (mostly 60s & 70s)– from beat music and funk rock to jazz and schlager, an ongoing project he runs with deejays Bakto and Woo-D. He works as a promoter of different club nights in Slovenia and has hosted gigs like Bonobo, Quantic, Krush, Danny Breaks, Marky, Dorian Concept, Dj Format, Fulgeance, Dj Food, Free the Robots … His production is more about beats than richly arranged pieces, it’s mainly sample based and slowish. He produces stuff for some rappers, film, stop motion animations and theater and is in a band called Jimmy Barka Experience – with another deejay (Bakto) and a drummer (Marjan Stanic).
Oh, and he also writes music reviews for various magazines and is the author and host of at least two excellent radio-shows.
